Description
Safeguarding students in the Internet Age requires a new level of vision. GenevaLogic introduces On-Sight, the innovative tool that helps educators ensure student computer use conforms to acceptable standards and provides tangible evidence to support needed intervention.
Designed for schools, On-Sight records detailed information on student application and internet activity. Custom reports and automatic screen shots provide the information needed to identify problems and guide responsible behavior.
See exactly what students are doing on any computer in your network
Log, record and track it ... automatically
Identify problems early, and get the info you need to intervene
Designed for schools, On-Sight enables administrators to monitor and record detailed information on student application and internet activity. Custom reports and automatic screenshots provide the information needed to identify problems and guide responsible behavior.
1. Clients
Monitor any computer in your school network with ease. Just install the On-Sight client software and connect it to the On-Sight database. An MSI compatible installation process makes it easy to roll this out over hundreds, or even thousands of computers. Your school chooses whether to make the client visible or invisible to student.
In either case, students will have no ability to disable the monitoring software. On-Sight works with notebook computers too - as long as they are connected to the network you will be able to monitor them.
See every computer in your school, or throughout your district
Works in the classroom, computer lab, library and on mobile clients
Supports Windows 98/XP/2000/Vista (Sorry - no Mac clients initially)
Secure from student attempts at tampering
Minimal footprint, easily deployed to 1000's of computers
2. Supervisor Console
The simple and intuitive interface of the On-Sight Supervisor Console makes it easy for school administrators to monitor student on-line activity and computer use. Supervisor access can be customized to match individual needs and responsibilities. For example, the principal and vice principal may be able to see every computer in the school, while the lab supervisor sees only those in the computer lab, and the librarian only those in the library.
Multiple supervisors can monitor overlapping sets of students or computers simultaneously, and administrators can access the supervisor console from any computer in the network.
Adjust image size and speed of advance as needed
Switch to real-time full-screen supervision of any computer when required
Supervise a virtually unlimited number of computers
Select logical groupings of computers or students to monitor
Snap screenshots stamped with time, date, computer and login information
Initiate simple text chats with students when their activities need correction
3. Auto-Supervisor
On-Sight's Auto-Supervisor function makes it possible for any administrator to monitor student computer activity continuously, without spending the day tied to a computer. Just select the groups of computers or students that you want to monitor, the data you want to record, and how frequently you want to capture screen shots.
On-Sight gathers the information you need automatically, in a database that is easily searchable.
Keep track of student activity even when no administrator is watching
Select high risk computers or students for closer monitoring
Create custom reports to share with students, teachers and parents
Log web sites and application activity by computer and by student
Capture screenshots automatically, at intervals you select
Store information in the central database for convenient review when needed
Easily locate the data you need using built-in search tools
4. Database
On-Sight uses a central database to store data on a secure server that can be available 24/7. The robust datbase support eliminates the possibility of a student hijacking the system. (Tip: If you want to evaluate On-Sight on a few computers you won't need a dedicated server, but for a typical implementation you will want to install the database on a server that is available 24/7.)
Automatic maintenance keeps size of database within user defined limits
Microsoft SQL2005 Express provided, full Microsoft SQL Server installations supported
Securely collects and maintains data in a central repository
Automatic maintenance keeps size of database within user defined limits
Identifies legitimate supervisors by Windows login (Active Directory integrated)
Robust security eliminates the possibility of a student hijacking the system
Maintains associations of supervisors to student computers
Database searches may be exported to spreadsheet format (CSV)
Load tested for over 10,000 computers, monitor a virtually unlimited number of clients
5. Database Administrator
The On-Sight Database Administrator provides overall control of access to On-Sight within your school system. Using this module you assign rights for use of the On-Sight supervision functions, and determine which group of computers and students specific individuals are able to monitor. The Database Administrator also provides an interface for managing the On-Sight Database. Built-in tools make it easy to see when your data storage space will be fill, and to flush older data to make room for new recordings.
Ensure individuals see only the students/computers they are responsible for
Manage database parameters, set limits for database storage
Monitor database usage and determine when older data will be replaced
Assign supervision rights and control access to monitoring capabilities
6. Network
On-Sight works seamlessly with Windows and Novell networks. Active Directory support makes it easy to auto-synch with your directory. On-Sight is designed to have limited impact on your network bandwidth. The software uses optimized image compression combined with smart data sharing to eliminate redundancies and reduce the load on network traffic, even when monitoring a large number of computers.
Active Directory integration for Microsoft Windows networks
Minimal impact upon network traffic, even when monitoring thousands of clients
Independent SQL authentication for workgroups and other network configurations, including Novell
Clients automatically reconnects for monitoring when attached to the network
