Description
Each student purchases a student response unit through the book store (much like a book). They will use the response unit for one or more classes each semester. The approximate purchase price of the response unit will be in the $20-$25 range. The student will receive the unit and an enrollment code.
The student will go to the specified Internet address to our CPS Online system, located on the enrollment code document, and enroll in the class(es) where the response pads will be used. The student will be required to provide the following once at the specified Internet address:
- the student enrollment code
- the serial number on the response unit
- the student's first and last name
- username and password
- the class key for the class (available through the Instructor)
In the enrollment process for a specific class, CPS Online will assign a physical pad number between 1 and 512 to that student and associate that pad to the student for the remainder of the semester. When the enrollment process is complete, the Instructor will download the class participants to the Instructor's desktop computer and the class will be ready to use CPS immediately.
Each student must bring their response unit to class providing the Instructor the following capabilities in class:
- take attendance
- give and grade objective pop quizzes
- stimulate class discussion with subjective and objective questions using CPS's ad hoc or formal question authoring capabilities built within CPS
- give a formal paper-based class test with multiple versions of the test using CPS to grade the exam
- use the CPS Gradebook to manage all aspects of your students’ grades while leveraging CPS to collect and record them instantly
Upon completion of the course, the student may sell the pad back to the bookstore or another student. The next student to use the response unit will be required to purchase an enrollment code to use the pad the next semester. The cost of that enrollment code from the book store should be in the range of $15 - $20.
For professors, CPS exports exam results in a variety of formats including PDF, Excel, Word, and HTML formats. Here are a few examples...
