The CP-X308 features 2,600 ANSI lumens of brightness and native XGA resolution at a light weight of 8.8 pounds. Boasting 802.11 b/g connectivity, the CP-X308 allows up to four PC’s to connect wirelessly. A wide variety of wired connectivity options are available, including component, composite and S-Video inputs, as well as two RGB inputs and one RGB output.

Users can monitor and manage one or more projectors from a single remote location, using Hitachi's proprietary PJ Man software. This simplifies the control, maintenance and security issues inherent with any projector system. Users can easily monitor the status of the projector (or many projectors), as power on/off, input source, lamp/filter hours and condition are all on display. Moreover, the software allows for control over these functions. Additionally, users can schedule power on/off events on an hourly, daily and weekly basis. Events can be applied to an individual or group of Hitachi projectors. Other features such as e-mail alerts for scheduled maintenance or error conditions, as well as password protection, give the user a new level of control at no extra charge.

Added security features include a Kensington slot and security bar. To further simplify maintenance, the CP-X308 features a side-mounted high-performance filter and top door lamp. The CP-X308 offers a low fan noise of 29 dB (in Whisper Mode), a built-in 7-watt audio output, and a remote control with Hitachi’s My Buttons feature. When making initial settings or when the screen would be blank, Hitachi's My Screen function allows users to display a preset company logo, school name or other still picture once the projector is turned on. Closed captioning is included, allowing audience members to read text or dialogue for video fed from a DVD player or television. The CP-X308 features Hitachi's proprietary E-Shot function, which allows users to transfer still images from a PC to the projector over a network.
