SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard M600 Series
The M600 series from Smart Technologies is the next generation of its widely successful 600 series interactive whiteboard. Available in the 77 inch M680 and the 85 inch M685, the M600 Smartboards are easier to use and more functional than ever.
Smart has versions of these boards with their short throw projectors, the M680i6 and M685i6. Smart even has a lower cost version, the M680V and M685V, which have a pen ledge, similar to what you would find on a marker board, instead of the electronic pen tray. Even without the electronic pen tray, the "V" boards still have the same tools and functionality of the other M600 series boards.
Durable writing surface
The surface of the boards is hard coated, steel backed and optimized for projection. It is durable and compatible with dry erase markers. Unlike its predecessor, the M600 Series use Smart’s DViT technology to make the board multi-touch compatible with support for two-touch points. Simultaneously operate the board without any issues or worries as no electronics are in the surface.
MAC / Windows compatible
Mac and Windows gesturing compatible, allowing you to take full advantage of the latest operating systems. Integrated response and user-friendly gestures to increase workflow.
Advanced pen tray
The M600 boards no longer ship with the four colored pens with built-in auto detection. Now you get two (2) user-friendly pens with color select buttons built into the tray. Select a color, start your presentation and then move to another color rapidly. You no longer need to manage and switch between pens. Need to type something? Engage the right click option and on screen keyboard buttons to generate more options on the fly.
SMART Notebook Software
Each board ships with Smart Drivers and a license of Smart Notebook software. This new version of SMART Notebook has been created and refined based on feedback from educators. It supports different teaching approaches, from large classes and small groups, to individual student learning. Includes is the popular Smart Ink feature which improves the look of handwriting for easier reading, and also allows writing to become an object in the software, where it can be manipulated.
Enhance instruction with automatic handwriting recognition and conversion combined with intuitive text editing capabilities. Now you can edit, move, delete, modify or insert text objects without reaching for a keyboard. In addition, SMART Notebook includes tools that make creating lessons a simple and intuitive experience. Get started instantly and save time creating and teaching lessons.
SMART Notebook for iPad app
Create multimedia files, complete assessments on the fly with SMART Response VE, allow students to share work with one another instantly and import files from Dropbox, Google drive, iTunes or SMART Exchange.
SMART Notebook Maestro add-on
Interact with content and conduct collaborative SMART Notebook lessons with an interactive display and a single iPad anywhere in the classroom.

Q & A
What is the difference between the SB680 and SMB680?
Does the SBM680 still have the active pen tray with auto pen color recognition?
The SBM680 has a new improved pen tray. This one holds two stylus pens instead of 4. This tray does not assign a color to each pen slot. Instead, there are buttons on the tray for each color (red, blue, black, and green), right click, and on screen keyboard. This means you don't have to constantly pick up and put down pens just to change the color you are writing with. Simply choose your color and press the button on the pen tray, or use the on screen tool bar which is even easier.
Is the surface different from the SB680?
Yes, the SBM680 has a hard coated, steel backed surface which is optimized for projection and compatible with dry erase markers. This surface is no longer pressure sensitive so it is much more durable than the SB680. This new surface also allows the use of Smart's DVIT technology, making the board multi touch and dual user.
Is the SBM680 compatible with gesturing?
Yes, Smart's DVIT technology allows this board to me multi touch and compatible with gestures used in Windows and OSX.
Do I need a projector to use the SBM680?
Yes, a projector is required for use, but not included. If you do not currently have one, please contact us at 866-942-6273. We carry a full line of projectors for literally any application.
Is there a wireless kit available for the SBM680?
Unfortunately there are no wireless kits available for the SBM600 series. The WC6-D would not work with this board.
What is the difference between the SBM680 and SBM680V?
The SBM680V is more economical version of the SBM680. It does not have the electronic pen tray that the SBM680 has. Instead the “V” model has a small pen ledge, or a regular marker board type of pen tray. You still get the two plastic styluses to use with it. You would just do all of your color, eraser, and on screen keyboard selections from on the screen. The SBM680v would not be compatible with the Smart brand projector systems, but we would be happy to find a projector for you that would work great with it.
How do I use an iPad with the SBM680? How do I use an Android tablet with the SBM680?
We recommending using an additional piece of hardware, the WePresent WIPG-1500 which let's you incorporate your iPad and other mobile devices into your presentation. You wouldn't be able to use the Smart Board to control the device though. You can find the WePresent here: http://www.touchboards.com/wepresent/wipg1500-air/?b=y&v=75636
Here are some videos that explain how the WePresent works:
