About

The leading manufacturer of premium AC power conditioning products
For the past twelve years, SurgeX technology has never failed to protect connected equipment, due to an AC surge-related event. That’s a fact.

SurgeX is the leading manufacturer of premium AC power conditioning products for the Pro and Residential audio, video, broadcast, and multi-media marketplace. Superior to conventional MOV surge supressors, SurgeX Advanced Series Mode technology is the only power protection product line in the market that completely eliminates surge energy without producing harmful side effects such as ground contamination or common-mode disturbances.

SurgeX products are the most widely used in the ProAV market and for the past 12 years we have helped protect nationally recognized concert halls, sports areas, and auditoriums. Recent installations include: Carnegie Hall, Dallas Cowboys new 2009 Stadium, Yankees Stadium, and The Kimmel Center.

In addition to producing the most effective power conditioning products, SurgeX offers the most comprehensive applications support available. Through key relationships with other industry experts, SurgeX has become a source of knowledge and assistance for all AC power and grounding issues, not just surge elimination and power conditioning. The senior staff are all SynAudCon graduates with extensive experience in the professional audio/video industry. Additionally, the SurgeX chief engineer is a member of the InfoComm Faculty, a full member of the Audio Engineering Society and a member of the AES Standards Committee Working Group on Electromagnetic Compatibility. SurgeX is also a proud sponsor of SynAudCon, and a member of AES, NSCA and InfoComm.

Based in the USA, SurgeX is a privately held division of Electronic Systems Protection, Inc. which develops and manufactures products at its headquarters in Knightdale, North Carolina.

Company history
In 1995, SurgeX® introduced a new type of surge protection technology called Series Mode®, which blocked and contained surge energy without the use of any sacrificial or diversionary components and did not contaminate the safety ground. Improving upon the original technology, Advanced Series Mode with zero let-through technology was introduced in 2005. This, along with other proprietary technologies such as the Impedance Tolerant® EMI/RFI filtering, SurgeX ICE®, and COUVS® Catastrophic Over/Under Voltage Shutdown, differentiate SurgeX products from all other power conditioning products.

Today, SurgeX is the leading manufacturer of AC power conditioning and surge elimination products. SurgeX leadership position comes from its engineering focus and commitment to provide the best products, customer service, and technical support in the industry – all backed by a dedicated team of professionals.

Safeguard your digital displays
SurgeX offers a full range of products to protect equipment from the adverse effects of power fluctuations. SurgeX digital display solutions are ideally suited for the sophisticated equipment used in today’s flat panel systems.

SurgeX technology is superior to the single-stage MOV circuitry found in conventional surge protectors, ensuring the highest level of protection from damaging surges, spikes, over voltage, EMI/RFI noise, and electrical transients. It is completely non-sacrificial and never requires reset, increasing the lifespan and reliability of connected equipment.

Available in two, four, and six receptacle configurations, including a model with remote IP control capabilities. SurgeX digital signage power protection and conditioning solutions will enhance your viewing experience.

Large Format UPS
Go beyond the rack with SurgeX’s Large Format UPS solutions. With configurations up to 20kVA, entire systems can now remain protected and online in spite of grid activity. Use in conjunction with a generator for excess carryover and conditioned power output – or alone to ensure safe shutdown.

The SurgeX large format UPS regenerates the AC power via double-conversion technology coupled with an isolation transformer to entirely re-establish the neutral to ground bond. Unique to the industry, this combination eradicates harmonics and eliminates common mode noise to ensure optimum performance and reliability. Better experience for end users and less service calls for integrators – at AV, not IT margins.

All three solutions provide extended scalable runtimes via our self-charging battery pack accessory, and are built to handle the most demanding gear.
